The Sting
Just poker. And he cheats. Pretty good at it, too.
J.J. Singleton (The Sting)
Only poker and only cheating. That's pretty much it. Add seven episodes, in which the movie is divided. Honoring the traditions each episode starts with a title card with music. Of course, when the movie was shot back in 1973 there were no options to watch it at home once again, but now everyone can watch The Sting on dvd, which is pretty neat.
The Players

A team of the con men took advantage of a man called Snyder, who appeared to be working for a crime boss Lonnegan. They are chased and told to give the cash back. Johnny Hooker (Robert Redford) pays in counterfeit bills. And here we go, he escapes to Chicago.
The Set-Up
Gondorff (Paul Newman) a famous con man is not famous anymore, as he lost his fortune streak but wants it back. He decides to gather the team of the "soul mates" or accomplices. He wants to try "the wire" scam.
The Hook
Gondorff sets up stealing Lonnegan's wallet. He paid for the buy-in in high-stake poker with the Lonnegan's money. He manages to outcheat Lonnegan in poker and he wins $15,000. But Lonnegan is unable to pay. And Hooker, pretending to be "Kelly," Shaw's angry employee, goes to collect the winning.
The Tale
Hooker tells Lonnegan that he has some partners in Western Union office in Chicago and it is possible to win with the help of pastposting in the off-track betting of Shaw's. He "wants" the revenge.
The Wire
Here comes back Snyder, the guy who was fooled in the first episode. He is now working with the FBI to reveal Hooker, who will bring them to Gondorff.
The Shut-Out
Lonnegan is so upset that his people cannot kill Hooker, although he does not know that Hooker and "Kelly" are the same people. He decides to hire "Salino" to kill Hooker. Hooker starts romance with a waitress, named Loretta.
The Sting
Hooker has fun with Loretta. He wakes up the next morning all alone. He meets Loretta coming towards him. And she gets shot in forehead. It appeared that she is Loretta Salino, the assassin.
Lonnegan gets half million dollars for the bet. But he bets on the horse that is coming second. Suddenly FBI enters the room and Snyder is with them. They confront Gondorff and tell Hooker to leave. He shoots Hooker, as the one who betrayed him. Then the man kills Gondorff and tells Snyder to take away Lonnegan. The guys stand up after others left. Hooker and Gondorff leave while other people take everything from the room before Lonnegan comes back for money.
It is a funny movie that brings much pleasure but there are more serious movies where people play Russian roulette and kill themselves. And there are such movies, where gambling is not an object of fun, but addiction.
